Duties of the Sectoral Competition Directorate
- Conduct market analyses in the sector and identify operators with significant market power in the relevant market based on these analyses.
- In coordination with relevant units, determine the obligations imposed on operators identified as having significant market power in the relevant markets.
- Differentiate, when necessary, between obligations for operators with significant market power in the same and/or different markets.
- Provided that the provisions of Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition dated 7/12/1994 remain reserved, ex officio or upon complaint, examine anti-competitive behaviors and practices in the sector, conduct investigations, take measures deemed necessary to eliminate competition-restrictive practices, and request the provision of information and documents on matters within its scope of duty.
- Take measures to eliminate anti-competitive behaviors and practices in the sector.
- Impose sanctions for competition violations emerging in the sector and obtain opinions from the Competition Authority in cases foreseen by the legislation.
- Conduct the Institution's relations with the Competition Authority.
- Monitor, evaluate operators' practices from a competition perspective, and take necessary measures.
- Perform other duties assigned by the President.
