European Postal Services Regulators Group - ERGP

The European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP) was established by the European Commission's Decision dated 10 August 2010, No. 2010/C 217/07 of the same date, to create a discussion and coordination platform between postal regulatory authorities and the Commission for addressing regulatory and implementation issues related to postal services and to facilitate cooperation. ERGP provides recommendations to the Commission to ensure the smooth functioning of the internal postal market in Europe and stability in postal regulations.


The Commission Decision establishing ERGP enables candidate countries to the European Union (EU) to participate in ERGP activities as observers and to attend ERGP General Assembly and Contact Network (CN) meetings. In this context, EU member states are members, while candidate countries (Turkey, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Albania), Switzerland, European Economic Area (EEA) countries (Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein), the European Commission, and the EFTA Surveillance Authority hold “permanent observer” status in ERGP. Furthermore, under Decision 217/7, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina are represented in ERGP with “temporary observer” status.


The Group's strategic priorities were determined by the 3rd ERGP General Assembly held on 30 November 2017 as: promoting the sustainable provision of universal postal services, promoting the creation of a competitive single market for postal services in the EU, and empowering and protecting the end user.


Our institution follows ERGP activities and participates in its meetings.
