European-Mediterranean Regulators Group-EMERG
EMERG was established pursuant to the Malta Declaration dated July 1, 2008, to serve the purpose of creating a platform through which regulatory authorities for electronic communications from Euro-Mediterranean countries can share their experiences via a network to be established. The aforementioned declaration, to which our Institution also contributed on behalf of Turkey, announced that the initiative—including our country as well as Cyprus (GKRY), Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Egypt, France, Greece, Germany, Libya, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Tunisia—aims to enhance regulatory cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region. EMERG's primary objective is to ensure that regulations are compatible both with each other and with EU norms by increasing the sharing of information and experience among member countries. Our Institution participates in General Assembly and Contact Persons meetings, as well as relevant workshops, contributes to the prepared reports, and closely follows EMERG activities.
