The Decision dated 11/6/2012 and numbered 2012/3842 on the Execution, Management and Coordination of National Cyber Security Activities, adopted by the Council of Ministers, was published in the Official Gazette dated 20/10/2012 and numbered 28447, and entered into force. Pursuant to this decision, the Cyber Security Board was established, duties and authorities in the field of cyber security were assigned to the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, and it was decided that working groups and temporary boards related to cyber security could be established.

With Law No. 6518 published on 06/02/2014, certain articles were added to the Electronic Communications Law dated 5/11/2008 and numbered 5809, thereby updating the relevant Council of Ministers decision, and new duties related to cyber security were assigned to the Information Technologies and Communication Authority.
With Law No. 5809 on Electronic Communications;
- Ensuring information security and confidentiality of communications (Article 4, paragraph 1 (ı) subparagraph),
- Ensuring network security against unauthorized access (Article 12, paragraph 2 (j) subparagraph),
- Taking the measures stipulated by legislation for the electronic communications sector for the purposes of national security, public order, or the proper execution of public services (Article 6, paragraph 1 (ş) subparagraph),
- Fulfilling the duties assigned by the Council of Ministers, the Ministry, and/or the Cyber Security Board on cyber security and internet domain names through the Presidency of Telecommunications and Communications or other units (Article 6, paragraph 1 (v) subparagraph)
these duties have been assigned to our Institution.
