The Information Technologies and Communication Authority, Eastern Anatolia Development Agency, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, and Huawei Turkey collaborated to hold the Huawei R&D Meeting.
Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, President of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, who attended the opening of the program, drew attention to how technology is changing our lives.
Speaking about the studies conducted by the institution, Karagözoğlu said, “One of the most valuable aspects of our ongoing efforts to monitor developments related to the internet, guide the sector, and produce new policies is our work on the relationship our children establish with the digital world. While ensuring that our children effectively and efficiently benefit from the advantages of the internet, we work to find, teach, and ensure they are protected from risks and threats in various ways.”
Giving advice to young people on self-development, Karagözoğlu provided information about the studies conducted by BTK Academy in this field. Karagözoğlu stated, “The trainings provided are given by Turkey's best instructors beyond the logic of public administration, and the gains are at the highest level for any student who demands it. We have achieved this. Now, we are working to increase our current student number of around 750 thousand to 1 million with our increasing trainings in the near future. Of course, our main goal here is quality rather than quantity. We want every citizen who benefits from our trainings to take this very seriously and be employed in the field they are trained in. We are very happy when we hear news that the students who completed our trainings have been employed.”
Emphasizing the need for equipped individuals who can produce technology, Karagözoğlu said, “Internet, software, and game companies need more software developers; companies engaged in large-scale production demand employees who can design production systems for themselves; even governments are now providing more support to high-tech based ventures. The way to meet all these is to introduce future generations to computer science and coding.”
President Karagözoğlu: Societies that Consume Technology Cannot Have a Say in the Future
Stressing that societies that consume rather than produce technology cannot have a say in the future, Karagözoğlu also touched upon cyber attacks, which are a negative outcome of technology, saying, “We are also doing our best to win this war. Under the roof of our institution, we are on high alert with USOM to ensure our cybersecurity 24/7. In doing so, we use our fully domestic and national software named AVCI, AZAD, and KASIRGA. At this point, I want to reiterate how much we value domestic and national production as a country. The power that will take us forward in domestic and national production is our youth who carry the zeal to work for this country in their hearts. Remember! Every success you achieve will shape your thoughts, and your thoughts will shape Turkey's future. Our duty here is to support your thoughts and ideas and pave the way for your work. Have no doubt that we are doing everything we can in this regard,” he concluded his speech.
