Next Generation Operators and the Future of Communication event was held in Antalya. Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu attended the event.
Speaking at the opening of the event, President Karagözoğlu stated that 5G technology has become the key to transformation in various sectors around the world.
Conveying that studies are ongoing to transition to 5G technology in the most efficient way, Karagözoğlu said, “As BTK, we are accelerating infrastructure investments, paving the way for operators, and promoting fair competition and sustainable growth. Because we know that the path to a strong Turkey passes through strong competition. Along with all these developments, Turkey is transitioning to a high value-added production model in the economy. Now is the time to be the lead actor, not the audience, on the stage of the digital economy.”
Stating that they see the Turkey Century not just as a concept, but as the century of full independence in technology, Karagözoğlu drew attention to the importance of domestic and national production at this point.
Karagözoğlu stated, “We clearly demonstrated our stance on this issue during the 4.5G tender. We exceeded the 45% rate we set at that time and reached 52% levels. With the tender we conducted last week, we aim to increase the domestic production rate to 60%.”
Emphasizing that domestic production is not only an economic gain but also the strongest guarantee of cybersecurity, Karagözoğlu said, “In this context, the National Cyber Incident Response Center (USOM), operating under our Institution, continues its duties on a 7/24 basis as a center that monitors our country’s digital security, detects threats, and conducts preventive work. In this direction, domestic and national software plays a critical role. The point we take the greatest pride and joy in while achieving all this is that we accomplish it entirely with domestic and national software such as AVCI, AZAD, KASIRGA, and KULE.”
Conveying that human beings and education are at the center of digital transformation, Karagözoğlu concluded his speech with the words, “At this point, BTK Academy, which continues its activities under our Institution, creates a strong platform for our youth to prepare for the digital world. Our youth receive training here in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data science, and software. We see each course and each certificate as a brick added to Turkey’s digital future.”
