Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan attended the program titled “International Cooperation in Domestic and National Products” organized digitally by e-Safe.
Deputy Minister Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan touched upon the importance of countries producing domestic and national technologies. Drawing attention to the world order in recent years, Sayan said, “As globalization increases, competition grows proportionally. And in this competitive environment, the only thing that will make our name shine before the entire world will be domestic and national production.”
Reiterating the importance of achieving the 2023 targets for our country, Sayan stated, “Especially the pandemic period we experienced showed us how crucial self-sufficiency is. When health is at stake, imports and exports lose all significance. The sole concern of global powerhouse nations, eager to globalize and deliver their production to the whole world, became closing their borders. All of this became a lesson for everyone. Now is the time to learn from these experiences. The lessons we take will serve as the antidote to any potential calamities that may befall us in the future.”
Emphasizing the momentum Turkey has gained in recent years, Sayan said, “We all know that in this journey, growing stronger together excites us all about the future. Today, we take pride in being a country that is growing, advancing, and continuing to develop on the world stage, making its name known with domestic and national technologies. Of course, this will not lead to complacency for us, but rather to even harder work.”
Deputy Minister Sayan: We Are Proud to Transition to 5G Simultaneously with the World
In his speech, Deputy Minister Sayan also addressed Turkey’s efforts in the 5G field. Sayan said, “As you know, topics such as the rapid increase in the number of internet-connected devices, machine-to-machine applications, the Internet of Things, and energy efficiency in communication devices and equipment have brought 5G and beyond technologies onto countries’ agendas. 5G technology aims to meet this diversity of needs and demands more effectively and simultaneously. Indeed, 5G, which is just around the corner, will enter our lives to achieve this. In many places, including our country, the first 5G signals have already been transmitted. Tests and trials are underway. Operators are finalizing their technological capabilities and business plans. Device manufacturers are successively introducing their new 5G-supported devices and chips. We too have broadcast Turkey’s first 5G signals at the 5G Valley Open Test Field in Ankara, established under the leadership of BTK. We take pride in transitioning simultaneously with the world to one of the most important technologies that will drive a profound digital transformation.”
At this point, highlighting the critical importance of cybersecurity, Sayan also recalled the software AVCI, AZAD, and KASIRGA, which were developed entirely with domestic and national resources by USOM, operating under the BTK roof with domestic and national capabilities.
