Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan attended the Bilişim 500 Ceremony held in the digital environment. Sayan emphasized the importance of localization in informatics.
Turkey's successful informatics companies received their awards this year through a program held in the digital environment due to the pandemic. Deputy Minister Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, who spoke at the opening of the ceremony, expressed great pride in the successes of the informatics companies.
Sayan, who evaluated that Turkey has been virtually writing history with domestic and national technologies in recent years, said: "Growth statistics in the informatics field worldwide are approximately ten times the growth rates of national economies. While global economic growth has continued between 3.5 and 4 percent on average in recent years, this rate is around 4 to 5 in developing countries, and about 22 in developed countries. As the Ministry, we attach great importance to investments in technology, digitalization, and human resources, and we are conducting research in this context."
Conveying that they have carried out many studies for the components of our country's growth and development strategy, Sayan said: "Within the framework of this vision, we prioritize establishing an effective competition environment, making technological products and infrastructure accessible at reasonable prices, supporting domestic production, developing cyber security capacity, and creating added value through big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. In the matters I mentioned, we continue the studies we have been conducting from the past to the present, targeting the supply and demand-oriented needs of the sector."
