In his opening speech at the program, BTK President Sayan began by saying, “I am greatly pleased to host our very valuable girls and their educators in our institution on the occasion of this organization, which enables the implementation of the Cooperation Protocol signed between the Ministry of Family and Social Policies and our Institution last year.”
Emphasizing that as BTK, they want children and young people to acquire technological knowledge, accumulation, and equipment in the best way possible without losing their own culture and national and spiritual values, Sayan provided the following information: “The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), established in 1865 by 20 founding members including our country, one of the United Nations' specialized agencies, continues its activities with 193 member countries at present. The ‘International Day of Girls in Information and Communication Technologies’ initiative was adopted by a decision supported by all ITU member states at the Plenipotentiary Conference, ITU's highest authority. The aim is to enable young girls and women to evaluate existing career opportunities in the field of information and communication technologies, raise awareness on this issue, and achieve gender equality.”
President Sayan concluded his remarks by thanking Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya for the collaborations and advising the girls to develop themselves in the field of technology.
