The Information Technologies and Communication Authority hosted students at the event sponsored by Havelsan.
The program was attended by BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, Havelsan General Manager Ahmet Hamdi Atalay, President of the Young Architect Sinan Engineers Union Muammer Dolmacı, and numerous students.
In his speech, BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu emphasized the importance of software. Defining software as the alphabet of our time, Karagözoğlu stated, “When software comes to mind, the first things that come to mind are electronic devices such as computers, smartphones, and televisions; however, software has great potential in all areas from transportation to defense, economy to energy, industry to agriculture, health to sports, communication to the entertainment sector.”
Expressing that we cannot ignore the negative aspects of technology, which encompasses every area of our lives, Karagözoğlu pointed out that young people also have important responsibilities in this regard. Advising young people to learn coding, Karagözoğlu concluded his speech with the words, “When we look at the pasts of the world giants in the sector, we see that their common point is learning programming at a young age. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, the most widely used social network, learned to code at the age of 9. The first program written by world giant Bill Gates at the age of 13 was a tic-tac-toe game. By the age of 15, he had designed and written a new version of the BASIC language. Why shouldn't you be Turkey's Bill Gates or Zuckerberg? Remember! Every success you achieve will guide your thoughts, and your thoughts will guide Turkey's future.”
