Participants in the program included Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, President of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, Colman Deegan, CEO of Vodafone Turkey, and numerous guests.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan highlighted the impact of recent technological developments on the telecommunications sector. Sayan stated that the telecommunications sector must closely follow technological advancements to remain competitive, and expressed that we will witness significant changes in human life in the near future.
The topic of 5G was also on Deputy Minister Sayan's agenda. Emphasizing the importance his ministry and the BTK attach to this issue, Sayan said, “Of course, while doing all this, we have a significant expectation from our companies. That is to direct their efforts toward domestic and national capabilities. As you know, both as a ministry and through our affiliate BTK, we place great importance on this matter, and we seek a certain proportion of domestic and national content in our authorizations. As a country, we are doing everything we can to fulfill the requirements of the ‘National Technology Initiative,’ which is the roadmap outlined by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to achieve the 2023 targets. We also expect the necessary cooperation and support from our stakeholders.”
Deputy Minister Sayan added that 5G will enable a paradigm shift, particularly in the communications field, alongside many vertical sectors.
President Karagözoğlu: Telecommunications is One of the Sectors with the Highest Brand Value
BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu also made evaluations. Defining the telecommunications sector as one of the industries with the highest brand value, Karagözoğlu said, “As the regulatory and supervisory authority of our country, in this period where we are rapidly advancing toward 5G and beyond and placing important milestones one by one for our sector, we are doing our part to take the telecommunications sector even further.”
President Karagözoğlu also touched on the impact of 5G on operators and added: “Having a domestic and national network is very important both to reduce the current account deficit and to ensure our security. It is evident that Vodafone's efforts in this regard make a significant contribution to our sector.”
President Karagözoğlu concluded his speech by emphasizing the need for bright, young ideas for applications shaped by 5G to emerge from these lands and reach the world.
