Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, participated in the Mobilefest Istanbul "Looking to the Future with 5G and Advanced Technologies Panel."
On the second day of the mobile application fair "Mobilefest Istanbul," which opened its doors at the Eurasia Show and Art Center, the "Looking to the Future with 5G and Advanced Technologies Panel" was held. Accompanying Sayan, who moderated the panel, were Türk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal, Turkcell CEO Murat Erkan, and Vodafone Turkey CEO Colman Deegan.
Stating that mobile applications have the capacity to meet numerous expectations, from cost and time savings to quality service, ease of payment, and customer satisfaction, Sayan noted that many things will fundamentally change thanks to the unimaginable progress of technological developments.
Emphasizing that mobile applications will change the flow of life, Sayan referred to a mobile application developed by a tractor manufacturer using technology in Europe and added: "The manufacturer combines the data obtained from the soil with weather forecasts using the sensor placed in the tractor tire, allowing the most accurate seeding pattern for that soil to be seen instantly from the steering wheel. Thus, the farmer's job becomes easier and faster, and the yield becomes more efficient."
Sayan, who also provided information about the country's 5G plans, stated: "We are not making very short-term plans regarding the commercial use of 5G. Our priority is to enable our operators to make joint investments in a way that opens the path for joint investments as much as possible. I predict that our operators may have some surprises before it is commercially available everywhere in Turkey in the upcoming period. At this point, I think they will introduce 5G to you in surprise locations by obtaining trial permits from us. They will announce it when the time comes." Pointing out that bureaucratic sluggishness has been left behind after the transition to the Presidential Government System, Sayan gave the good news that "5G will be experienced in different areas in 2020."
