BTK Academy's "Summer Technology Camp" training certificates, organized within the scope of educational activities, were presented to the participants at a ceremony held at BTK.
Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, bureaucrats, students, and their parents attended the certificate ceremony.
In his opening speech at the program, BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu expressed his satisfaction with the organization of the trainings. Emphasizing that adults have a great responsibility in raising the children to whom we will entrust our country as a generation that can easily access science, culture, and art through digital technology while also protecting values such as family, friends, and love for nature, Karagözoğlu said, “Guiding children and young people correctly and directing them towards the right path is an important duty of adults.”
President Karagözoğlu: The architects of the digital future, our children, are growing up.
The Institution President stated, “As the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, we are making every effort for our children to fully adapt to technology. The seminars and trainings provided in our institution are part of these efforts. Within the scope of the event organized by BTK Academy, which has been operating under our institution since 2017, in the first six months; a total of 1,872 students were trained in areas such as Robotic Coding, Python Programming, Programming, Network, Telecommunication Systems, Cyber Security, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Professional Development, Legislation, Personal Development, and Quality Management System. The greatest purpose of these trainings is to make the architects of the digital future, our children, much more equipped and aware. Thus, it contributes to the upbringing of individuals who work for Turkey's digital future and can compete in a globalized world.”
Mentioning the institution's important works, Karagözoğlu said, “We are shaping our efforts so that our country can use technology on equal terms with all countries in the world and be isolated from its risks at the same time. USOM, operating 7/24 under our institution, in collaboration with Corporate and Sectoral SOMEs, protects our country from possible cyber attacks and neutralizes the attacks carried out. Moreover, we do this using software developed entirely with domestic and national capabilities such as AVCI, AZAD, KASIRGA, ORKA. Cyber security is our most sensitive line. Because at the point we have reached, our security in the technological field is equivalent to our national security. Therefore, we cannot ignore the risks of technology.
One of the riskiest digital platforms is the internet. The internet is one of the greatest inventions of the 21st century, but when not used consciously, it can turn into the most dangerous tool. The only way to eliminate these negativities is to use the internet correctly and consciously. As an institution, we have been providing the 'Safe Internet Service' free of charge since 2011 so that you can use the internet more securely,” he said.
President Karagözoğlu continued, “Today, powerful countries around the world are working with all their might to be among the first to implement 5G. We are also collaborating with both industry and universities to transition to 5G with the highest possible domestic and national capabilities. With our collaborations with METU, Bilkent, and Hacettepe, we are conducting studies in the 5G Valley with the support of academia. At the same time, we support young people who want to advance in this field to pursue master's degrees. In addition to all these, we are taking steps with our operators to move confidently towards 5G and Beyond,” and concluded his speech.
In his speech, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan said, “These trainings given by our competent and specialized colleagues aim to enable our young people, the guarantee of our future, to follow, read, and understand the foundations of next-generation technologies and the world of coding. Thus, we target our young people and children to discover their self-efficacy in coding, develop their algorithm-building skills, and increase their knowledge so that they become pioneering individuals in the future and elevate our country to the level of more advanced countries without falling behind the age.” Emphasizing the importance of technology education, Sayan said, “With these trainings you have received, in addition to developing creative thinking and problem-solving skills, you have not only been introduced to algorithms and coding. At the same time, you have learned the basics of technology and become aware of its importance. You will reflect this knowledge correctly in your lives.”
Deputy Minister Sayan: We value the education of our young people, the guarantee of our future.
Sayan stated, “The education of our young people, the guarantee of our future, is an integral part of BTK Academy. We do not only educate young people. We train approximately 600 mobile and fixed licensed operators and provide trainings on cyber security. After receiving these trainings here, we want our young people who say 'We are here in our President's domestic and national technology move' to say in their career choices or university preferences: 'We learned coding from white-hat hackers working at the 'National Cyber Incident Response Center,' the address of cyber security in Turkey, and received training from experts in the field.'” Underscoring the high demand for the trainings, Sayan concluded his speech by saying, “In the next process, we will continue our trainings online as well.”
