WEEKENG 2019 "Weekend Technology Summit" brought together professionals from the technology world and technology enthusiasts.
Speaking at the WEEKENG 2019 Technology Summit, BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu said, "With the board decision we have taken, our operators will make the necessary arrangements regarding eSIMs by next February. eSIM technology will become available in Turkey as of 2020."
Organized for the first time this year by Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University's New Generation R&D Club, Information Technologies Club, and IEEE Student Club, WEEKENG 2019 "Weekend Technology Summit" brought together professionals from the technology world and technology enthusiasts. At the summit, artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0, 5G communications, blockchain, autonomous databases, 3D organ modeling, molecular imaging, and digital transformation elements were discussed from different perspectives. The summit, which was also attended by Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, featured discussions on Turkey's 5G transition process in mobile communications and mobile phone technologies. Karagözoğlu announced that Turkey will be ready for eSIM technology in 2020.

Information Technologies and Communication Authority President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu made statements to Demirören News Agency before the summit. Stating that SIM-cardless phones will soon be encountered, Karagözoğlu said, "With the board decision taken by BTK, our operators will complete the arrangements regarding eSIMs by February of next year. eSIM technology will become available in Turkey as of 2020."
Explaining the details of the eSIM application, defined as Electronic SIM, Karagözoğlu said, "The user will load a profile onto their phone. Thus, when you want to switch operators, you will be able to start receiving service from the relevant operator on the electronic SIM without any physical SIM card change. In some products that we have started importing to Turkey, eSIM technology has already begun to arrive. In Turkey as well, both physical and eSIM technology are available in the relevant devices."
