The International Spectrum Regulation Training Seminar, organized annually since 2011 by the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, began on September 14, 2015, with the opening speech of BTK Board President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan.
In his speech delivered via video conference system, Sayan emphasized that BTK places great importance on sharing knowledge and experience internationally and expressed his satisfaction with the intense interest in the training seminar.
Providing examples from data related to Turkey's first quarter of 2015 in the information and communication technologies sector, Sayan drew attention to the growth in the sector and stated that the IMT Advanced tender, known publicly as 4.5G, was successfully held on August 26, 2015, and that this tender would contribute to the sector's growth through service diversity and innovations. Highlighting Turkey's strong economy and its G20 Presidency in 2015, Sayan noted that the G20 Leaders Summit would be held in Antalya. Sayan stated that BTK has hosted important international meetings and that memoranda of understanding signed with regulatory authorities of various countries have contributed to the development of bilateral cooperation internationally.
Nearly 70 representatives from 40 countries are participating in the training seminar, where International Relations Department Head Gazali Çiçek, Spectrum Management Department Head Erdinç Tekbaş, Spectrum Monitoring Department Head Yunus Şuayip Çetin, and relevant experts are providing training on spectrum management, spectrum monitoring, and market surveillance and supervision.
The seminar, which also features ITU Radio Regulations Board member Victor Strelets as an invited speaker, will conclude on September 18, with certificates presented to participants by BTK.
