
The winners of the National Cyber Shield 2021 Exercise, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, have been announced.
The two-day Cyber Shield 2021 Exercise has concluded. Speaking at the closing program, Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, President of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, emphasized the importance of the exercise for institutions.
Reminding that it was important for the exercise to consist of different scenarios containing the most commonly observed and realistic threats, Karagözoğlu pointed out the necessity of increasing communication between participating teams. Karagözoğlu shared the information that “Participants encountered different scenarios containing the most commonly observed and realistic cyber security threats in areas such as web and network security, malware analysis, operating system and management, secure software development, and SCADA protocols.”
Expressing his satisfaction with the successful conclusion of the exercise, Karagözoğlu said, “It should not be forgotten that the outputs of this and similar organizations are to enhance capabilities for responding to cyber incidents and to strengthen cooperation. Our goal is to bring all our SOMEs to a certain maturity level and provide a common standard. In this context, cooperation between USOM and our SOMEs will continue to increase.”
Following the speech, plaques were presented to the winning participants by BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, Deputy President of the Institution Mustafa Küçükali, and Director General of Communications Gökhan Evren. In the National Cyber Shield 2021 Exercise, the Ministry of Youth and Sports took first place, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance second, and the Ministry of Health team third.
