
The traditional iftar programs at the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) have started this year with great enthusiasm. Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu also attended the last iftar of the week. Making important statements on digitalization, Minister Uraloğlu provided information about the social media regulation to be implemented for children.
BTK Academy, with its contributions, organized iftar gatherings where important stakeholders of the communication and telecommunications sector and students came together at the same table.
The iftar program organized by TÜRKSAT was held with the participation of Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
Speaking at the program, Minister Uraloğlu stated that the communications and informatics sector is one of the most strategic areas of our time, saying, “Information technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and high-speed connectivity play a vital role in countries' economic development, competitiveness, and national security.
Turkey has made significant progress in its digital transformation journey over the last quarter century. Under the visionary leadership of our President, we have taken determined steps toward becoming a global pioneer in digital transformation through infrastructure initiatives brought to life.

With 5G technology, whose first signal we will receive on April 1, 2026, we will bring 20 gigabit per second data transfer speed to our nation; this transition is not just a technological leap, but a harbinger of profound transformation in every field from industry to health, education to agriculture,” he stated.
Pointing out that the levels achieved in fiber infrastructure, broadband, and mobile subscriber numbers demonstrate Turkey's digital capacity, Uraloğlu also drew attention to internet and social media usage durations, saying, “This area is too critical to be left vacant; especially protecting our children in the digital world in a conscious and safe manner is our common responsibility. The social media regulation prepared for children in coordination with the Ministry of Family and Social Policies has been finalized. We will submit the bill to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.”
Students Met with Sector Representatives
Throughout the week, at iftar programs supported by technology companies such as Digiturk, ULAK, and NETAŞ, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, and leading executives of the sector met with students.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, who spoke at the iftar programs, also highlighted the current state of technology and emphasized the importance of domestic and national production.
Emphasizing that they have great trust in young people in the digitalization era, Sayan gave his word that they would always be their supporters.
BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, who spoke as the host at the programs, stated that digital transformation is now at the center of our lives and that data flow has gained greater importance than ever.
Within the scope of the iftar programs, gifts were given to students who ranked in the competition organized by BTK Academy through the Kahoot application.
The iftar programs, hosted by the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, will continue to be held throughout the month of Ramadan.
