Information Technologies and Communication President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu met with academics at a meeting organized in the digital environment with the contributions of the Information Security Association and Havelsan.
President Karagözoğlu stated, “As an institution, since 1983, we have aimed to transfer our experience in the electronic communications sector and the accumulation we have gained through our regulatory and supervisory role that we have been carrying out since 2000 to young people and job seekers through BTK Academy, and to contribute to the employment of competent personnel needed by the sector with certification trainings accepted at national and international levels. Since 2017, with coding and software training given to thousands of students at BTK Academy, which operates under our institution, we are raising soldiers for our sector. The programs carried out within the Academy are offered to everyone in need within the framework of social responsibility awareness with the cooperation and contributions of our internal trainers who are experts in their fields, as well as public institutions and organizations, universities, and all other national and international stakeholders.”
Emphasizing that BTK Academy provides services with appropriate and up-to-date training methods for meeting the need for trained human resources in our country in the field of information technologies and achieving the desired breakthrough in science and technology in the medium and long term within the scope of the National Technology Move, Karagözoğlu said, “The Online Education Platform, established with domestic and national resources, has become the education gate for our youth in these days when we are going through difficult times and online education has come to the fore, and it shows us today how important a step we took in the past. As you know, we are living in a period where science and technology have gained importance like never before. In such a world equipped with technology, our greatest power, as you will appreciate, is software. Today, software defines the new world. In addition to the trainings we organize, our students can access a total of 49,000 minutes of online training in approximately 85 topics under 13 different categories prepared by our expert trainers on the BTK Academy Online Education Platform, free of charge from anywhere, without considering time and place.”
President Karagözoğlu stated, “We know very well that countries need to strengthen their economic independence as well as preserve their technological independence. For this, we know how important it is to develop our own technology. Perhaps the most important of the steps we have taken on this path was the ‘1 Million Employment’ Project carried out under the Treasury and Finance Ministry and BTK. The project was announced to our people on Monday, April 20, 2020, with our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s address to the nation. The interest shown in the project was also gratifying. The number of applications made in just the first week exceeded 450 thousand. With this project, students receiving training will specialize in the private sector and information technologies field and be able to build a career in this sector. As BTK, we undertook the part of training 1 Million Software Developers of the project and started giving online trainings to our youth on the BTK Academy Online Education Platform. For 1 Million Employment, the Treasury and Finance Ministry is conducting the studies.”
Providing detailed information about the “1 Million Employment” Project, Karagözoğlu said, “By consulting with civil society organizations, our esteemed academics from universities, and leading national and international companies in the information technologies field, 23 different positions have been determined in line with the needs of the software market. We will prepare 101 different online training contents by the end of this year for our youth who want to specialize in these 23 positions. As of today, 19 online trainings have been offered to our youth on the BTK Academy Online Education Platform, this number will reach 40 by the beginning of July, and 101 by the end of the year. Together with these trainings, we aim to increase our current approximately 800 hours of training to 2800 hours by the end of this year,” and concluded his speech.
