Information Technologies and Communication Authority President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu Attended the BEREC/IRG General Assembly Meeting.
BEREC (Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications) and IRG (Independent Regulators Group) are platforms where the regulatory authorities in the electronic communications field from European countries convene with the European Commission. These platforms aim to enable coordinated action within a common framework for the implementation of EU electronic communications legislation, while also allowing for comparisons between national legislations and EU legislation in response to changes and developments in the sector.
The 36th General Assembly meeting of BEREC, in which our country holds observer status, and IRG, of which we are a member, took place in Portorož, Slovenia, from October 3-5, 2018. BTK was represented at the meeting, attended by the presidents of national regulatory authorities from EU member states, as well as EFTA (European Free Trade Area) countries and EU candidate countries, by Board President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu and Board Member Celalettin Dinçer.
The meeting addressed the EU's new electronic communications regulation (European Electronic Communications Code - EECC) and the EU's agenda for the electronic communications sector. Within this agenda, discussions were held on reports prepared by BEREC expert working groups on topics such as "net neutrality," "end-user," and "roaming," as well as the BEREC 2019 work program.
