The AI Tomorrow Summit 2025 event was organized by the Artificial Intelligence Policies Association. Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, President of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, who attended the summit, spoke about the studies conducted on artificial intelligence.
Important figures from the technology and public sectors gathered at the AI Tomorrow Summit 2025 program. Speaking at the “Decision Point: The Role of Institutions in Artificial Intelligence” session held as part of the event, BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu drew attention to the strategic importance of artificial intelligence and the responsibilities of institutions in this field.
Expressing that as BTK, they ensure that artificial intelligence is built on secure, ethical, and domestic foundations through both infrastructure investments and regulatory efforts, Karagözoğlu stated: “We have active efforts in developing qualified human resources, increasing R&D support, and strengthening collaboration with the private sector. We are conducting important work to transform our country’s potential in artificial intelligence into concrete steps within the framework of our red line, which is domestic and national production. As BTK, we do not view artificial intelligence merely as a technology, but also as an approach that prioritizes human dignity, security, and societal benefit.”
Stating that artificial intelligence has become intertwined with all areas of life, Karagözoğlu shared: “We need to calculate where artificial intelligence will take us in the coming years from today. Because it will have a significant share in almost every field of the business world. This is inevitable. The data also gives us clues about this. The global artificial intelligence market size is expected to exceed 757 billion dollars by the end of 2025. By 2034, it is estimated to surpass approximately 3 trillion dollars.”
Emphasizing the importance of producing domestic and national artificial intelligence applications, Karagözoğlu said: “Developing domestic and national artificial intelligence technologies is of great importance. Because this is not just about technological development, but also about digital sovereignty. Different countries are taking serious steps to control artificial intelligence and protect society. Similarly, we must establish infrastructures that protect our own data, adhere to ethical values, and are secure. Domestic and national artificial intelligence solutions are one of the most important steps to safeguard both our individual rights and our country’s digital future. The stronger we are in this field, the more solidly we will march into the future.”
A Major First from BTK: Artificial Intelligence Courses to be Included in University Curricula
Touching upon the protocol signed between BTK Academy and YÖK, which will greatly contribute to integrating young people into the sector, Karagözoğlu said: “Thanks to the protocol signed between BTK Academy and the Council of Higher Education, we plan to include and credit the artificial intelligence courses provided by BTK Academy in university curricula. This is a major first in YÖK history. Thus, university students will directly receive the most up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence, making them more prepared and equipped for developments in the sector after graduation.” He drew attention to the success of BTK Academy.
At the summit, awards were also presented as part of the AI Tomorrow Summit 2025 Award Ceremony. BTK Academy won the award in the “Awareness” category, making us proud.
