Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, attended the 15th International Defense Industry Fair, which was inaugurated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Stating that the domestic and national technologies developed by Turkish companies are a source of pride, Sayan also signed a new cooperation agreement with Aselsan and Türk Telekom. Sayan announced the good news: “As part of the fair, we have signed a new cooperation agreement between Aselsan and Türk Telekom. Through this cooperation, the 8X-Pol Antenna, developed domestically and nationally by ASELSAN, will be used in a live 4.5G network owned by Türk Telekom for testing in the mobile network and transitioning to mass production.”
Sayan, who said, “We fully believe it will lead to beautiful results for our sector,” continued: “In all our efforts, while striving to bring the latest technology to our country on one hand, we are planting seeds for the future by prioritizing domestic and national production on the other. The 4.5G authorization we introduced in our country in 2016 is a turning point in this regard. We took important steps towards localization targets in the electronic communications sector through the localization obligations we set in the 4.5G tender. Now, 5G lies ahead.”
Expressing that as a country, they aim to produce 5G technology with domestic and national capabilities and market it to the world, Sayan stated: "5G is not just a communication technology; it is the driving force for our country's development. In this direction, we are pleased to have achieved concrete results in the 'End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Communication Network Project.' We completed the first phase of our project by the end of March. We will witness many more beautiful developments in the near future."
Sayan concluded his speech by saying, "Our Ministry, BTK, and our sector stakeholders will continue to work with all our might to develop a domestic and national product ecosystem in the electronic communications field. The world is watching the peak reached by Turkish engineering with admiration. We will continue to march decisively towards our goals of a strong Turkey, shoulder to shoulder."
