
Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the number of mobile subscribers has reached 90.8 million, adding, “In the third quarter of this year, the net sales revenues of operators operating in the communications sector increased by 47 percent to 35.1 billion lira.”
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu evaluated the Turkey Electronic Communications Sector 3-Monthly Market Data Report prepared by the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK).
Noting that as of the third quarter of this year, 464 companies authorized by BTK hold 840 authorization certificates, Karaismailoğlu said, "The net sales revenues of operators operating in the sector in the third quarter increased by 47 percent compared to the same period last year, rising to 35.1 billion lira."
Drawing attention to the fact that the number of mobile subscribers has reached 90.8 million and the mobile subscription penetration rate is at 107.2 percent as of the third quarter, Karaismailoğlu provided the following information:
"We see that 83.4 million of mobile subscribers prefer 4.5G subscription, and 4.5G service accounts for 92 percent of total subscribers. The number of machine-to-machine (M2M) subscribers exceeded 8.1 million. As of the third quarter of 2022, the total number of ported mobile numbers approached 164.4 million. Number portability transactions were also carried out for 2.4 million fixed lines."
Stating that the increase in the number of internet subscribers continues, Karaismailoğlu noted the following:
"Total broadband internet subscriber number rose to 91.4 million, including 72.6 million mobile. Compared to the previous quarter, the subscriber number grew by around 2.1 percent. The highest increase occurred in mobile internet subscribers, with approximately 2.5 million compared to the previous period.
In the same period, we reached 498 thousand kilometers of fiber infrastructure. The number of fiber internet subscribers also rose to 5.5 million. Fixed broadband internet subscribers used an average of 243 gigabytes per month, while mobile broadband internet subscribers used an average of 14.8 gigabytes per month. Compared to the previous three-month period, in the third quarter of 2022, fixed broadband internet subscribers' average monthly usage increased by 2.1 percent, and mobile broadband internet subscribers' average monthly usage increased by 15.5 percent."
Pointing out that the total mobile traffic volume is approximately 80.6 billion minutes, Karaismailoğlu announced that the fixed traffic volume was 1.2 billion minutes. Karaismailoğlu stated that the average monthly usage time in mobile networks is 569 minutes.
Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that there are currently 6 authorized electronic certificate service providers in Turkey, and as of the end of September 2022, a total of 6.98 million electronic certificates have been created, approximately 6.1 million of which are electronic signatures and 834 thousand are mobile signatures.
