WE SHOULD WORK DAY AND NIGHT FOR UNINTERRUPTED COMMUNICATION WITH THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF JULY 15TH
In his speech at the July 15 Democracy Victory and Martyrs Commemoration Program, Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, President of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, said, “With the consciousness of the brave ones who filled the squares on the evening of July 15 and stood in front of the tanks, we should work tirelessly day and night to provide uninterrupted and quality communication services and take our place among the pioneers in the world.”
The Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) organized the July 15 Democracy Victory and Martyrs Commemoration Program at the BTK Central Campus. The program, which began with a Qur'an recitation and a video presentation on July 15, was attended by the Authority's deputy presidents, department heads, and BTK personnel.
JULY 15TH IS A TURNING POINT
Reminding that July 15th is a turning point, Sayan said, “July 15th is a milestone that swept away a pile of bad habits that had continued until then with the back of its hand, never to return. After this, coups will not be able to roam freely. From today onward, every step taken without considering the nation will be doubted in terms of its chance of success. It has been certified once again with July 15th that the true owner of the homeland is the nation. The question 'Will my vote be equal to that of the shepherd on the mountain?' has found its answer never to be asked again. Like many periods in our history, July 15th is the day when power once again emerged defeated from its clash with faith and belief. When we reached the gates of Anatolia in 1071, we existed only with our faith and belief; in 1453, we stood before the walls of Istanbul with the same faith and belief. Stopping unjust power with the courage and sense of justice derived from faith and belief has always been the destiny of our nation throughout history. Our sole support and refuge on this path is the poet's words: 'Be upright! The Lord will not disgrace you...'”
WE SHOULD BE PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF THIS NATION
Stating that one of the most important contributions of July 15th was feeling what we are really working for and for whom, Sayan said, “While this assassination attempt on our nation's fate was given an unforgettable lesson by the nation itself, the true owner of these lands was also revealed. The owner of these lands, this state: In a short period of time, in a high-intensity conflict environment, it is the nation that rose from its ashes and waged a new War of Independence. July 15th is the day when we all experienced great joy because we are members of this nation.”
WE SHOULD WORK DAY AND NIGHT WITHOUT RELENT FOR UNINTERRUPTED COMMUNICATION
Expressing that there are duties incumbent upon us, Sayan said the following: “No matter in which job, in which situation, in which field, in which branch, in which position we are; we must work with all our strength with the consciousness of whom we serve in order for our nation to reach the place it deserves, and we must internalize this feeling and thought. The brave ones who filled the squares on the evening of July 15, stood in front of the tanks, became targets of bullets, pushed away weapons with the back of their hands and continued speaking were in this consciousness. Our entire nation, young and old, women and men, who poured into democracy watches night after night to protect the national will, was in this consciousness. Our brothers who were martyred at Türk Telekom and Türksat were in this consciousness...
Now, while performing our duties here at BTK, we should not act as if these things never happened, never occurred; we should continue on our way without forgetting what happened, without forgetting why our martyrs died, and knowing how we will serve this homeland entrusted to us. What this nation expects and wants from you is to be represented in the whole world without bowing to our nation's enemies in every field, with this spirit and understanding.
From economy to politics, from education to technology, from health to national defense, every field is a battlefield. As members of the communication world, we are aware of our duties. We should work day and night without relent to provide uninterrupted and quality communication services and take our place among the pioneers in the world. This is the real duty, and this is the essence of the duty.”
Sayan concluded his speech by praying for mercy for our martyrs, commemorating our veterans with gratitude, and sending greetings and respects to the millions who took to the streets on the night of July 15th.17.7.201717.7.2017
