Within the framework of the 15th of July Democracy and National Unity Day, BTK President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan made a press statement.
In his statement on the subject, Information Technologies and Communication Authority President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan emphasized that communication continued uninterruptedly on July 15, 2016, just as it does today, saying, “As individuals of the communication world, we are aware of our duties. We are at our posts day and night to provide uninterrupted and high-quality communication services. With the works we undertake, we must take our place among the pioneers in the world countries.”
Emphasizing the role of communication in national security, Sayan stated, "We have expressed and will continue to express on various occasions that communication, in addition to its contribution to economic and social welfare, is of vital importance for the national security of countries. We all experienced the most vivid example of this on July 15, 2016. July 15 was a day when a much more treacherous and insidious betrayal was exposed, compared to many attacks and coup attempts we have seen in our history, leaving deep traces in all our minds. It is the 2nd anniversary of the coup attempt that our nation thwarted with its foresight and determination, aiming to take away our right to live freely. Today, everyone understands better both the magnitude of this betrayal and the story of the epic written by our nation."
Remembering those who sacrificed their lives without blinking an eye on July 15, President Sayan said, "Today, if it weren't for our courageous people on July 15, we wouldn't have been able to protect this homeland. We owe each and every one of them our gratitude. We all witnessed firsthand the role of communication in preventing this coup attempt. That night, the power of communication brought people together at bridge piers, the complex, in front of the General Staff, and in front of the Police. Communication, one of the main elements that created this determination, should be developed in accordance with the conditions of our age and future ages. For this reason, it is of great importance that we make investments and provide our services not only with short-term commercial concerns but with policies that promise a new future."
In his statement, Sayan also said, “On this occasion, I commemorate with respect all our martyrs and veterans of the July 15 betrayal attempt, together with our martyrs and veterans who risked their lives to keep communication uninterrupted.”
