On the 18th anniversary of the August 17 Earthquake, Sayan made statements regarding the communication problems experienced that day, saying, "We are taking all measures to ensure uninterrupted communication in the event of a possible earthquake."
BTK President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan attended the award ceremony organized by the Informatics Media Association. The event, held at Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Beşiktaş Campus, where Bahçeşehir College was deemed worthy of the "Best Tablet Education, Coding and Robotics" award by the Informatics Media Association, was attended by Informatics Media Association President Musa Savaş, Bahçeşehir College administrators, students and teachers of the Integra robotics team from Bahçeşehir College Science and Technology High School.
"CODING, ROBOTICS AND 5G WILL SHAPE THE FUTURE"
Speaking at the ceremony, Sayan said, "Coding, robotics, and 5G will shape the future. As a country, we have reached a certain level through production, tourism, and exports. Now is the time to produce knowledge, utilize the knowledge we have, and export it. We will only surpass ourselves through informatics. It is very important to educate our youth with this awareness."
Dr. Sayan also advised young people on the use of Turkish on social media, saying, "Friends who have received coding education know that if you write even a single letter wrong in a command in coding, that code does not achieve its purpose and does not work. We say, let's write the codes correctly both on social media and in informatics, let's use our Turkish correctly, and to the extent we write and use it correctly, let's not lose our language, but rather develop it further."
WE ARE TAKING ALL MEASURES FOR UNINTERRUPTED COMMUNICATION
Following the ceremony, on the 18th anniversary of the August 17 Earthquake, Sayan made statements regarding the communication problems experienced that day, saying, "We are taking all measures to ensure uninterrupted communication in the event of a possible earthquake."
Expressing that they have both informed the operators on how to communicate in disaster situations and taken all measures within the framework of emergency plans, Sayan said, "A few days ago, there was a flood disaster in Istanbul due to very heavy rain and hail. We are clearly defining how to overcome floods, earthquakes, and similar natural disasters, how to use these areas, and how our operators should behave in disaster situations. There have been quite a few earthquakes in the Aegean Region in recent days. We are monitoring these earthquakes in real-time. We observe that communication has not been cut off and continues healthily. Of course, we cannot know what we will encounter in a disaster situation, but we are taking all measures for communication to continue uninterrupted."
COMMUNICATION WAS TARGETED ON JULY 15
Reminding that on July 15, the coup plotters had specifically targeted communication channels as well, Dr. Sayan said, "Because if there was no communication, it would have been easier for them to succeed. However, even at that moment, communication continued uninterrupted. We are prepared for such situations. But being prepared is not enough; without becoming complacent, we must increase our measures every passing day."
