An event addressing the personal rights of IT personnel was held at BTK.
The program titled “Personal Rights of IT Personnel,” organized by the Turkish Informatics Association, was attended by Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, President of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK), Rahmi Aktepe, President of the Turkish Informatics Association, Dr. Osman Coşkun, Deputy President of the AK Party's R&D Unit, Duygu Albayrak from the State Personnel Presidency, and IT sector employees.
In his opening speech at the program, BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu emphasized that progress in all sectors depends on well-trained personnel. Pointing out the ongoing efforts to increase the number of competent IT experts in the IT sector, Karagözoğlu stated, “Under the auspices of the State Personnel Presidency (DPB), the 61st action item titled ‘Regulation of Employment of Public IT Personnel’ in the ‘2015-2018 Information Society Strategy and Action Plan’ plans to improve the personal rights of public IT personnel and increase the number of positions. Adopting the approach of preparing IT strategies aligned with institutional strategic plans, especially in public institutions carrying out large-scale e-government projects, is an important step for personnel working in the IT field. In this regard, I believe that the steps taken to bring the personal rights of IT personnel to levels that can compete with international market conditions should be accelerated.”
Noting that efforts such as “improving salary and retirement conditions, providing opportunities for personnel to develop themselves, and encouraging participation in training and certification programs related to their field of activity” are being accelerated to improve personnel conditions, Karagözoğlu emphasized the importance given to IT sector employees by saying, “The education and certifications that personnel participate in and benefit from should impact their rank and title. Because these ranks and titles are motivating factors for personnel. I believe that practices such as rewarding personnel who successfully complete projects and tasks will also be beneficial.” Following the speeches, questions from IT sector employees were answered.
