
Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Thailand's Minister of Digital Economy and Society, visited Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, President of the BTK. Accompanying Minister Durongkaveroj on the visit was a delegation consisting of officials from Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the Thai Embassy in Ankara.
During the meeting, BTK President Sayan provided information on the institution's structure and main activities. Sayan particularly described the studies conducted on 4.5G licensing, 5G, data centers, safe internet, and cybersecurity, and shared current data on the electronic communications sector. Guest Minister Durongkaveroj also touched upon the structure of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, its affiliated institutions, and their work in areas such as digital economy and e-government. Additionally, an exchange of views took place on topics like the Internet of Things, big data, smart cities, and public-private sector collaboration.
Within the framework of BTK's bilateral cooperation activities, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) on November 20, 2013, in Bangkok. In addition to the existing MoU, the meeting discussed other cooperation opportunities between the two countries, and the candidacies of Turkey and Thailand for the International Telecommunication Union Council were also raised.
Following the bilateral meeting, Thailand's Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, and his accompanying delegation visited the National Cyber Incident Response Center (USOM), where a briefing was provided to the delegation.
