
The “Bilişim 500 Awards 2022 Ceremony” organized by BT Haber, which keeps the pulse of the IT sector in Turkey, took place with intense participation from public and private sector representatives.
The “Bilişim 500 Awards,” which keeps the pulse of the IT sector in Turkey, found their owners at the organization held in Istanbul. In his opening speech at the award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan stated that they see the Bilişim 500 events organized by BT Haber as a source of motivation for IT companies. Sayan began his speech with the words, “I am sure that the Bilişim 500 events are a source of motivation for many of our IT companies. On behalf of myself and my Ministry, I congratulate the IT companies that are in the top 500 and all companies that conduct important work in this sector, even if they are not on the top 500 list, and contribute to the future of Turkey's IT sector.”
Emphasizing that the IT sector is of great importance not only in its own field but also in other sectors, Sayan said, “You, who operate in our sector, are in the position of the key to social welfare and economic efficiency. Information and communication technologies are changing and transforming every sector. The power of our IT companies adds strength to the power of other sectors.”

Sharing information about the market share of the information and communication sector in our country, Deputy Minister Sayan said, “In our country, between 2017-2021, with an annual average growth of 23% in TL terms, the information and communication technologies market size approached 266 billion TL (29.9 billion USD) in 2021. The exports of the Information and Communication Technologies Sector reached approximately 17.5 billion TL (1.964 million USD) in 2021 with an annual average growth of 14% in TL terms between 2017-2021, and the software sector appears to have taken the largest share here with about 85%. I believe that with our talented human resources in the software field in our country, we will reach much better points.”
Deputy Minister Sayan: We aim to transition to 5G with our domestic and national products.
Emphasizing that IT infrastructures are indispensable in the implementation of technological innovations, Sayan said, “We are persistently and determinedly conducting our domestic and national efforts in cooperation with the Ministry and BTK. Despite all the negativities brought by the pandemic, we completed an important stage of the End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Project on June 23, 2021, together with our valuable sector representatives working day and night on the road to 5G, and our public and private sectors. The R&D processes of the products have been completed, prototypes have been prepared, and now we continue our work for the products to be used as commercial products. In the second phase of the project, hopefully, the production of domestic products will be realized. With the Milli Teknoloji Hamlesi vision drawn by our President and the contributions of all stakeholders, we are experiencing the joy of seeing the concrete outputs of our domestic and national 5G production activities.”
Stating that the cooperation of all stakeholders is important in creating an effective and healthy functioning entrepreneurship ecosystem on the path of digital transformation, Sayan said, “I wholeheartedly congratulate our innovative companies that make us proud with their successes and wish them continued success. I thank BT Haber and all stakeholders who contributed to Bilişim 500, one of the most important organizations of the IT sector, and sincerely congratulate the companies deemed worthy of the award. I express my gratitude to each and every one of our companies that contribute to our sector, whether they are on the list or not, and greet you all with respect and love.” and concluded his speech.
