President Karagözoğlu: We Should Be a Country that Produces Technology, Not Just Consumes It
Speaking at the opening of the
iftar program, BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu offered advice to the
students who attended as guests.
Noting that the world is undergoing a significant change and transformation, Karagözoğlu stated, “This transformation process particularly highlights two issues: vocational expertise and innovative ideas, that is, innovation. We are in an era where countries standing behind this will take a step ahead. You will carry this period forward. You will be the new representatives of politics, the business world, sports, and the arts community. You will take the investments made in education, science, and technology even further. We must take our place not just as consumers, but as a producing and developing Turkey.”
Drawing attention to the necessity of being a country that designs, develops, produces, and exports technology for independence, as stated by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Karagözoğlu advised, “The success of our country’s national technology initiative and its transformation into a technology-producing society will be possible with you young people. Especially in high-tech sectors such as communication and defense, it is very important for us to become a country capable of production with domestic and national resources and self-sufficient. All stakeholders, whether public or private sector, have important roles to play in achieving these goals. Of course, you young people who will take your places in the public and private sectors in the future as well.”
Touching on Vestel’s proud representation of our country, Karagözoğlu concluded his speech by saying, “As you would appreciate, the path to progress in domestic and national production passes through the effective implementation of R&D activities. Vestel, which produces its own technology, also holds the distinction of having Turkey’s first digital R&D. We thank this esteemed company, which exports to numerous countries, for the employment opportunities it provides to thousands of people worldwide through its investments and for the significant export potential it brings to our country.”
