The closing ceremony of the “Seeds of the Future” program, organized under the leadership of Huawei, was held.
The closing ceremony of the program, organized for the purpose of learning Chinese culture, took place at the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK). BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, Ministry of National Education Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hilmi Çolakoğlu, Huawei Turkey Deputy General Manager Jeffery Zhong, Cultural Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Ankara Shi Ruillin, and students attended.
BTK President Karagözoğlu, drawing attention to the importance of the program in terms of cultural exchange, said, “I want to say two words about the internet. Yes, the internet is a vast ocean; while using it and developing ourselves technologically, our life experiences show us that if we ask the right question, directing it to the right source, the internet can take us there. On another issue, if we are conducting scientific research, the internet should not be our only data source. We need to keep alive the culture of books and libraries written on the subject. This is an experience I gained from long hours of work. You should have a motivational sentence in life. On my own behalf, I would like to share a sentence I gained during long studies with you.”
He began his speech with the words, “If you have the will to solve a subject, there will definitely be a solution.”
President Karagözoğlu: These Programs Will Reduce Digital Divides
Emphasizing that it is very important for young people to get to know a different culture, experience it firsthand by living immersed in its values, Karagözoğlu stated, “With this project, which Huawei implemented as a social responsibility project in 96 countries by the end of 2017 and aims to reach engineering candidates who will work in the ICT sector of the countries where it operates, it also contributes to the development of the local ICT and communication industry of the country it is in. Within the scope of the project, 10 students selected from Turkey's leading 7 universities participated in cultural tours and trips between September 11-23, getting to know China more closely, and our young people also received training to learn Chinese in this short-term program. Undoubtedly, the best way to learn a culture is by first learning its language. The young people we call social engineers have experienced an experience they will never forget in their lives,” he shared with the guests.
Giving advice to the youth, Karagözoğlu said, “In the progressing times of your education and professional life, you will gain much different experiences and learn many different cultures. One of the best ways to do this is the training you participated in. Because, as I mentioned earlier, a culture can only be learned by living immersed in it. With this program, a channel has been opened for recognizing and understanding a different culture, seeing each other's linguistic and cultural richness, and contributing to world peace in this sense. Moreover, you had the chance to see the operations of global operations firsthand. In addition, I think this program also makes significant contributions to reducing the digital divide. In other words, it is not just a cultural exchange; information was also provided in the field of ICT for the future, and I think it contributed to forming new plans and ideas in the minds of you young people who are at the beginning of their careers in this regard. As you know, as the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, we are conducting important studies to be among the leading countries in technological developments. Undoubtedly, such programs are an indispensable part of these efforts,” he concluded his speech.
At the end of the program, gifts were presented to the students who successfully completed the project.
