Sayan said, “Today, that is, on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, we have completed the first step of the IMT-Advanced auction, known to the public as 4.5G.”
Sayan stated, “In the auction that started with a total of 2.3 billion Euros, the 375.4 MHz frequencies reached a value of 3.359 billion Euros plus VAT, totaling 3.960 billion Euros. With today’s value, this figure represents 13.2 billion TL. We obtained income 1.5 times the targeted minimum price.”
In his statement, Sayan said, “I thank everyone who contributed here. First of all, I want to thank the auction commission and our press members. Congratulations to our citizens.”
Sayan stated that in the next process, the auction commission will prepare the decision minutes and, as the auction authority, submit it to the Information Technologies and Communication Board; after the upper board’s approval, the result will be notified to the bidding operators, the GSM and 3G privilege contracts will be amended, and the operators will be invited to sign.
Sayan noted that the IMT authorization certificate will be issued after the definite guarantee is deposited, and services will begin from April 1, 2016.
“We are progressing towards becoming a country that exports in the telecommunications sector”
Sayan said that the biggest difference between the previous auction and this one was the increase in the localization rate.
Emphasizing that they consider telecommunications a strategic sector, Sayan said, “In this sector, we are now progressing from being a country that only imports to a country that produces its own products and exports when necessary. Our operators and producers have started their preparations in this regard. We believe they will meet this.”
