The President of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK), Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, announced that the frequencies to be used in 5G have been determined.
Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, President of BTK, delivered the opening speech at the 32nd National Informatics Congress of the Turkish Informatics Association (TBD).
Sayan stated that the WRC was held in Geneva, Switzerland, from November 2-27, saying, "One of the most important events for us in this conference was that it was the conference where the frequencies to be used in 5G were planned and determined. A delegation of over 120 people, including academics from all sectors, gathered here."
Expressing awareness of the role played by information technologies and communication in economic growth and development, Sayan recalled that the number of broadband internet subscribers, which was 6 million in 2008, exceeded 46.9 million by the end of October 2015, mobile broadband subscribers reached 37.9 million, and fixed broadband subscribers approached 9.2 million. Sayan stated that they observed mobile would have a higher market share with 4.5G, and they expect internet speeds on mobile to increase 10-fold with the launch of 4.5G on April 1, 2016.

Today, I am pleased to be with you on the occasion of the 32nd National Informatics Congress of the Turkish Informatics Association.
Encouraging local content, establishing trust on the internet, and safe internet are our primary targets.
As a result of the workshop, where participation is expected especially from European countries and regional countries, it is aimed to obtain results that will serve as a guide for many countries.
