The Information Technologies and Communication Authority hosted the 3rd Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Competitive Telecommunications Operators Association.
BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, TELEKOMDER Board Chairman Âdem Öcal, and numerous sector representatives attended the opening of the program. Speaking at the opening of the program, President Karagözoğlu stated that information and communication technologies have undergone significant changes over the last 30 years. Drawing attention to the fact that the sector and consumers have been substantially affected by this transformation process, Karagözoğlu said, “The increasing quality of the telecommunications sector day by day also raises consumers' service expectations to the same extent. At this point, our institution's mission is to establish effective, sustainable competition by making regulations and supervisions in line with international norms and standards in the information and communication sector, to continuously improve our service quality, and to protect the rights and interests of relevant parties.”
Expressing that telecommunications companies face certain challenges in the field when it comes to meeting the growing and diversifying communication demands among citizens, Karagözoğlu stated in his speech, “While we strive to protect consumers' rights and interests, TELEKOMDER also communicates these challenges and their proposed solutions to our institution as soon as possible. Moreover, without engaging in conflict and within the framework of commercial courtesy, when necessary by being open to collaboration with companies, it endeavors to ensure our sector operates without interruption and aims to contribute to our country's technological development. I would like to thank the TELEKOMDER association from here for their efforts.”
Following the speeches, the general assembly meeting proceeded.
