The Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) hosted the “Local Technologies Event” organized by Ericsson.
The opening of the program was attended by BTK President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, Ericsson Turkey General Manager Işıl Yalçın, and numerous guests. In his speech at the opening of the program, President Karagözoğlu spoke about the current state of technology.
Reminding that Ericsson has signed important works with its experience, Karagözoğlu said, “As we all know, the world is globalizing day by day, and the borders once drawn with thick lines are disappearing. As a natural result of this transformation, successful companies are moving beyond being companies of a single country; with a global company vision, they blend the local values of every country they serve, and even if their name is foreign, they effectively become local companies in those countries. Investments, events, and collaborations that pave the way for large and experienced companies like Ericsson to honorably become our country’s company please not only me but all stakeholders operating in our sector.”
Emphasizing that as an institution, they attach great importance to collaborations with stakeholders, Karagözoğlu stated, “With the awareness of how crucial domestic and national production is within the scope of our country’s 2023 vision, on one hand, we strive to support foreign companies that will bring knowledge accumulation to our country and localize that knowledge, while on the other hand, we are taking steps to guide our local companies.”
Touching on the works carried out in this field, Karagözoğlu explained their objectives as increasing entrepreneurship in R&D activities focused on informatics and high technology in our country and encouraging investments in these areas.
Karagözoğlu also noted that the importance of R&D for the communications sector imposes significant responsibilities on BTK, saying, “We are fully aware of these responsibilities, closely monitoring all developments in our sector, and continuing our efforts within the scope of our country’s national interests. On this path, our SMEs are our greatest supporters. SMEs are among the building blocks of the economy due to the roles they undertake and the contributions they provide to the country.”
