The TBD Public-BIB’27 and BIMY’31 Integrated Event, organized by the Turkish Informatics Association, brought together leading figures from the public sector, informatics, and business world. Organized under the main theme of “Innovative and Green Technologies,” the event addressed important topics such as information technologies, innovative solutions, and process management by expert speakers. Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu from the Information Technologies and Communication Authority also participated in the event.
Speaking at the event, President Karagözoğlu noted that artificial intelligence will become much more innovative and productive in the future, considering its rapidly growing global impact. Karagözoğlu stated, "While artificial intelligence holds a revolution in speed, efficiency, and connectivity in one hand, environmental impacts and cybersecurity risks are in the other. Therefore, focusing only on the benefits is not enough. We must foresee the risks that come with technology and be prepared against them."
President Karagözoğlu: Domestic and National Software Plays a Critical Role
Karagözoğlu emphasized the importance of domestic and national production in artificial intelligence, stressing that when software and hardware used in infrastructure are produced by others, security is maintained only to the extent permitted by the producers.
President Karagözoğlu expressed that developing domestic and national innovative technologies, supporting national software, and protecting critical infrastructures require utilizing technologies we produce ourselves. Referring to the work they have done in this area, Karagözoğlu concluded his speech by saying, "Within the framework of the National Technology Initiative, the importance of domestic and national production becomes more evident each time. The most solid way to eliminate security risks is to develop and manage technology without external dependency. Domestic and national software plays a critical role. In the National Cyber Incident Response Center (USOM), established within our institution and described as 'Turkey's cyber fortress,' we use domestic and national software such as AVCI, AZAD, and KASIRGA, which we developed entirely with internal corporate resources, and we encourage both our stakeholders and young people to act with the same sensitivity."
