
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made evaluations regarding the "Turkey Electronic Communications Sector 3-Month Market Data Report" prepared by the Information Technologies and Communication Authority for the third quarter of 2023.
Stating that as of the third quarter of 2023, 471 companies authorized by the BTK hold 854 authorization documents, Uraloğlu said, "The net sales revenues of TT Mobil, Turkcell, Türk Telekom, and Vodafone amounted to approximately 48.3 billion lira, while the total revenues of other operators reached 14.5 billion lira."
Minister Uraloğlu stated that the number of mobile subscribers reached 92.8 million as of the third quarter of 2023, with mobile penetration at 108.8 percent. Uraloğlu said, "Of the mobile subscribers, 85 million prefer 4.5G subscriptions that started service in 2016, and 4.5G service accounts for 92 percent of total subscribers. The number of M2M subscribers has reached 9 million."
Stating that the total number of mobile numbers ported from November 9, 2008, when number portability began among GSM operators, until the third quarter of 2023 is 174 million, Uraloğlu said, "In the third quarter of the year, number portability decreased by 0.7 percent compared to the previous three-month period, with 2 million 449 thousand 425 number portability transactions completed."
Stating that a total of 2 million 554 thousand 735 number portability transactions were carried out in fixed lines from September 10, 2009, when number portability application started, until September 30, 2023, Uraloğlu said, "As of the third quarter of 2023, the average monthly usage duration in mobile networks was 490 minutes, while in fixed networks it was 103 minutes."
"549 thousand kilometers of fiber infrastructure achieved"
Minister Uraloğlu stated that when examining the number of internet subscribers, the total broadband internet subscriber count is 94.3 million, with 74.8 million being mobile, and said, "In the third quarter of 2023, fiber infrastructure reached 549 thousand kilometers with an increase of around 10 percent compared to the previous year, and the number of fiber internet subscribers is approximately 6.5 million."
Drawing attention to the fact that while the average monthly data usage of fixed broadband subscribers was 243 GB in the third quarter of 2022, it rose to 250 GB in the third quarter of 2023, Uraloğlu said, "In mobile subscribers, data usage, which was 14.8 GB in the third quarter of 2022, reached 17.4 GB."
Stating that there are a total of 8 authorized electronic certificate service providers in Turkey, Uraloğlu said, "As of the end of September 2023, these electronic certificate service providers generated a total of 8.1 million electronic certificates, including 7.1 million electronic signatures and 936 thousand mobile signatures."
