Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu and his delegation visited the Market Surveillance Laboratory Directorate of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority located at Hacettepe University Teknokent, where they received information from the authorities.
Minister Uraloğlu began his visit by touring the "semi-anechoic" and "fully reflective" laboratories where the electromagnetic output power of electronic devices providing communication is tested. He then visited the rooms where walkie-talkie tests are conducted and frequency measurements are taken. Finally, he toured the laboratory where physical tests of mobile communication devices are performed, and in the area where damage tests are conducted, he dropped a mobile phone onto a wooden floor from a height of 1 meter using a mechanism.
During the visit, Uraloğlu explained that in this area, authorities drop mobile phones three times each to conduct damage tests, and then record any potential damage that may occur on the phones according to certain criteria.
Stating that tests for voltage, batteries, and chargers are also conducted in the same laboratory, Minister Uraloğlu watched a 3,000-volt electrical test applied to a charger for 1 minute.
He also examined the area where battery tests are applied and received information from experts about repair workshops and mobile phones that explode in citizens' pockets.
Uraloğlu stated, "We recommend that our citizens use batteries that are standard in devices, not from secondary industries, and have passed tests, to avoid any mobile phone explosions. In the tests conducted so far, none of the products from companies that meet general standards have exploded."
Minister Uraloğlu was accompanied during his visit by Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan and Information Technologies and Communication Authority President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu.
