
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Information Technologies and Communication Authority and the Albanian Electronic and Postal Communications Authority.
A Memorandum of Understanding on establishing cooperation between the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) and the Republic of Albania Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) was signed during the 12th International Electronic Communications Regulators Conference. It was signed on behalf of BTK by Board Chairman Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan and on behalf of AKEP by Chairman Ilir Zela, in a program attended by the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Mr. Ahmet Arslan. The purpose of the memorandum is defined as promoting the exchange of information on the regulatory experiences of the Turkish and Albanian parties in the communications industry, aimed at further developing friendly relations between the two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.
The areas of cooperation included in the memorandum of understanding are listed as the regulation of electronic communications markets, the regulation and applications of the use of information technologies, and other matters to be mutually agreed upon. Within these areas, the matters through which cooperation will be conducted include the exchange of information and documents, exchange of experts, bilateral consultations, joint organization of technical workshops, seminars, study visits and training programs, sharing of best practice examples in the field of electronic communications regulations, expert visits and joint working groups in telecommunications services and technologies, and other forms of cooperation that may be deemed appropriate by the parties.
