Following the delivery of the IMT authorization documents on 27/10/2015 with the participation of our President H.E. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, the amendments to the existing GSM and 3G (IMT200/UMTS) Concession Agreements, which were signed and sent to the Council of State, have been finalized in accordance with the Council of State's opinions and signed between Dr. Ömer Fatih SAYAN, Chairman of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) on behalf of BTK, and the representatives of Avea İletişim Hizmetleri AŞ, Turkcell İletişim Hizmetleri AŞ, and Vodafone Telekomünikasyon AŞ at the ceremony attended by the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Mr. Binali YILDIRIM.
Minister YILDIRIM warned all operators on the fiber issue, saying: “Let’s leave the small calculations here too. ‘Oh, if they lay fiber, we’ll suffer losses’ – let’s drop these. How will you get ahead? You will seek ways to excel with your performance, the diversity of services you provide, service quality, and content. You can’t achieve superiority by erecting barricades on the roads. We see together how much damage those who do that cause to the country. I’m stating this here regarding the fiber issue. I kindly request that from now on, all our operators abandon small calculations and see the big picture. We also know the problems encountered in implementation on this matter and have started efforts to resolve them. You will see, when we do this, everyone will win. You will win, the country will win, our nation will win.”
