Vision The General Aviation Hangar belonging to Vision Aviation has been opened at Ankara Esenboğa Airport.
The opening ceremony of the General Aviation Hangar, introduced to the civil aviation sector by Vision Aviation, was attended by Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Şuay Alpay, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of National Defense, Ferhat Yenibertiz, General Manager of Vision Aviation, and representatives from the civil aviation sector.
Speaking at the opening, Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, emphasized that while the global aviation sector is growing with single-digit figures, Turkish civil aviation has been growing steadily with double-digit figures for the last fifteen years. Stating that airports are breaking records in terms of passenger numbers and aircraft traffic, Sayan said, “The fact that four of the top five airports in Europe with the highest increase in passenger numbers are ours is a source of pride as it shows that we are the country contributing the most to Europe's aviation growth figures. In our country, 12 airlines, 44 air taxi companies, and 82 general aviation operators are operating, and 22 flight schools training pilots for these operators continue their activities with an annual capacity of approximately 500 students. Parallel to the business volume realized in the aviation sector and the anticipated growth, the importance of such investments is increasing even more.”
Expressing that amateur and general aviation activities in Turkey, along with air taxi services and flight schools, form the cornerstones of our country's aviation activities, Sayan stated, “Our country has risen from the 18th place in the world passenger ranking in 2003 to the 11th place, and from the 7th place in Europe to the 5th place, becoming a hub in air transportation. Istanbul Atatürk Airport has ranked 5th in Europe and 14th in the world in terms of passenger numbers. While the global aviation sector has grown by approximately 6% over the last 15 years, Turkey has achieved approximately 16% growth in the same field.”
Emphasizing that with the 3rd Airport to be opened on October 29, the developments in the aviation sector will continue exponentially, Sayan added, “We know very well that the only way to win the technological and economic race is through domestic and national production. As the Ministry, we support and encourage the efforts carried out in this regard. We are exercising great care in taking steps to meet the needs and expectations of the sector. Especially by realizing a giant investment like the 3rd Airport that will make Turkey a global aviation hub, we are demonstrating all determination and resolve to achieve our country's 2023 targets.”
Agreement Between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey
On the other hand, as an important step regarding civil aviation, an agreement was signed between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, adding 18 frequencies to the weekly flight numbers under a framework agreement in the civil aviation field, initiating flights from Ankara to Bishkek, and establishing air connections from seven touristic cities of our country to Kyrgyzstan.
As a result of negotiations between the two countries, Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister, and Zhenishbek Nogoıbaev, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of Kyrgyzstan, signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation” that serves as an umbrella agreement to strengthen and continue the existing exemplary cooperation between the two countries in the fields of air transport and civil aviation.
