Under the auspices of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, Netaş and ZTE organized the “5G Event in Turkey.”
In his opening speech at the program, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan stated that the number of internet-connected devices, which was 8 billion in 2018, is expected to reach 1 trillion by 2030, bringing with it the need for faster communication.
Highlighting their efforts with stakeholders like Netaş to position Turkey as a country that designs, develops, produces, and exports 5G technology in line with the “National Technology Initiative,” Sayan expressed his belief that the company will become a significant actor by strengthening further with global technology firms like ZTE.
Referring to Netaş and ZTE's work on 5G, Sayan said, “I consider the transfer of ZTE's global 5G experience to our country through Netaş as important in terms of its contribution to our country's efforts to develop domestic and national 5G technology. We believe that ZTE and Netaş will grow together by collaborating with producers in our country that have production potential within the framework of our country's domestic and national production vision, by including these producers in production efforts, and by sharing the experience Netaş has accumulated over the years.”
President Karagözoğlu: 5G is the Key to Technological Transformation
Information Technologies and Communication Authority President Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu also stated that they view 5G not only as “more speed” but also as the key to technological transformation, and that they are working to transition to 5G with domestic and national capabilities as soon as possible.
Stating that the first phase of the “End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Communication Network Project” will be completed as of March 31, Karagözoğlu expressed that the domestic and national products developed within the scope of the project will be a milestone in the transition to 5G.
Karagözoğlu also noted that the work to be carried out with operators in Turkey and other companies wishing to develop products, under the 5G trial permit given to Netaş for 5G studies to be conducted at N.visionLab, will make a significant contribution to technological development.
At the event, the opening of “N.visionLab,” where IPTV, smart living, 5G applications/face recognition, and localized solutions will be showcased, was held.
