The 3rd Summit on the Development of the Cyber Security Ecosystem was organized by the Turkish Informatics Association under the auspices of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, who attended the opening of the summit, stated that the changes and transformations in the field of information and communication technologies pave the way for social and economic development. Sayan said, "It is predicted that 50 billion smart devices, the vast majority of which will be used in infrastructure-related solutions, will communicate thanks to IoT technologies in 2025."
Explaining that efforts in the field of cyber security have not reached the desired level, Sayan emphasized that all stakeholders must work effectively to develop national and domestic cyber security technologies so that Turkey can reach a competitive position in the global market.
Deputy Minister Sayan: Access to 46 Thousand Malicious Links Blocked
Stating that they are aware of the fact that countries' cyber security is as important as national security, Sayan drew attention to the importance of developing and using domestic and national products, resources, and methods in ensuring national cyber security, just as in every field related to national security. Sayan stated that while the localization rate was at 1% levels in the 4.5G tender in 2016, they increased this rate to 23% with the measures taken, and said, "Our target is to raise this rate to 45%. Thanks to the Cyber Security Cluster conducted under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries, our goal is to elevate localization and nationalization in cyber security to high levels. Starting from testing cyber security products and ensuring they meet catalog values, we will intensify our tests in the coming period regarding whether the promised works are realized. We will increase market surveillance and inspections."
Stating that approximately 46 thousand malicious links have been blocked by USOM so far and more than 2,500 cyber security notifications have been made in writing to relevant parties, Sayan announced that they are steadily advancing towards 2023 targets with the power of the "National Technology Move" initiated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which serves as an important guide for them.
