BTK will conduct the recruitment of Cyber Security Experts through a competition for the purpose of preventing national cyber incidents and ensuring cyber security. A cyber army will be formed with competent individuals selected as a result of the competition from among 25 thousand applications.
BTK President Sayan had called for the formation of cyber security experts and voluntary cyber security teams, referred to in the media as the "white hat hacker army." BTK aims to meet the need for experts by unleashing the potential in young people with a high aptitude for technology, offering an opportunity to patriotic youth who say "count me in" for activities such as training and camps in this field to support our country's cyber defense, without requiring a graduation condition.
NEARLY 25 THOUSAND APPLICATIONS RECEIVED
Emphasizing that applications came from young people of high school age to citizens aged 57 following the call, Sayan said: "As of January 11, 2017, nearly 25,000 applications have been made to the https://kariyer.btk.gov.tr/usom internet address. Applications were not only from Turkey but from all over the world. We see that 22% of the applications are from Istanbul, 12% from Ankara, and 4% from Izmir. In terms of age, we can say that 84% are over 18 years old and 16% are under 18."
IF YOU SAY "COUNT ME IN," "CAPTURE THE FLAG"
To identify those who can work at a high level among the applications, a competition called "CYBER STAR" will be held. The competition, announced by BTK President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan in his speech at the USOM Consultation Meeting with the slogan "Capture the flag," will start on January 20, 2017, last 24 hours, and end on January 21. A countdown for the competition was also started at the meeting.
After the competition announcement, BTK President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan added: "I would like to emphasize that our preparation efforts continue for platforms to be established for applicants who will voluntarily contribute to strengthening our national cyber security to collaborate with us, and our planning for training and camp programs to meet our country's expert needs in the field of cyber security."
WHAT ARE THE PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS?
Applications and registrations can be made at www.siberyildiz.com, which contains all information about the competition. Those who want to participate can do so individually or in groups of up to four people. No conditions other than mobile phone and e-mail verification are required for participation. USOM's advice to participants is to have a virtual Kali operating system ready to prepare for the competition.
HOW WILL THE EVALUATION BE DONE?
Those who fill out the participation form and register will be able to enter the competition. Participants who pass the questions at the first level and reach a certain score will earn the right to see the questions at the next level. For successfully registered participants, some questions will be opened on the date the competition starts, and new questions will continue to open as they reach certain scores.
WHAT ARE THE COMPETITION PRIZES?
In addition to meeting USOM's personnel needs, the competition also aims to raise awareness. Republic Gold coins in different amounts will be given to those who rank in the competition.
