Speaking at the iftar program held at the Information Technologies and Communication Authority Experience Center, BTK President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan congratulated the participants on the blessed Ramadan Sharif, the month in which our holy book, the Quran, was revealed, and wished them to reach the holiday in good health.
The Information Technologies and Communication Authority organized an iftar program at its Experience Center, which it recently opened in its main building, attended by politicians, the information technology sector, and the press.
The iftar invitation, which combined the spirituality of the blessed Ramadan month with the atmosphere of the Experience Center reflecting a piece of the spirit of our era, was attended by Board Members, Vice Presidents, and institution employees, as well as Deputy Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication Galip Zerey, Şaban Atlas, Orhan Birdal, along with officials from RTÜK, HAVELSAN, ASELSAN, and CEOs of operators. The iftar program, held in the Main Hall of the BTK Central Campus, continued with the welcoming speech of our institution's president, Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan.
Starting his speech by congratulating the blessed Ramadan Sharif, the month in which our holy book, the Quran, which guides all humanity on the right path, was revealed, Sayan continued: “I want to begin my words by commemorating the 564th anniversary of the Conquest of Istanbul, which is a turning point both politically and historically, and on this occasion, remembering with mercy and gratitude our ancestors and our Mehmetçiks whose ranks are martyrdom and places are paradise. May their souls rest in peace. We live as free people on these lands for which they gave their lives.”
COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES IS OUR DOMINANT SECTOR
Stating that communication technologies hold an important place in our country's security as a dominant factor affecting all sectors and are among the sectors with the widest basin in Turkey, Sayan said, “We are conducting our work with the awareness of this critical information. In just the last few months, we have held many events in our new campus where we are located.
- We opened our Safe Internet Center,
- Again in the Safe Internet field, we held a 'shoot-and-send' video competition and award ceremony among middle school and high school youth. It was quite enjoyable to host our youth here with the participation of our esteemed Minister.
- We started our Cyber Star competition here. More than 27 thousand young people applied. We competed online with more than 10 thousand of them. They truly made us proud. Our call in the cybersecurity field spread like waves. After us, many institutions started various events for youth in this field. We experienced the rightful joy of creating both public opinion and serious awareness.
- We must also mention the award ceremony of the Cyber Star competition. In our event attended by our esteemed Minister, we embraced our youth who said 'I AM HERE TOO!' in the cybersecurity field. We set out together. Some started working with us. On the other hand, we continue to contribute to their education on various occasions.”
WE PRIORITIZE DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL PRODUCTION
Reminding also of the Hacktrick, Esafe, and Locard events, Sayan continued his words as follows:
“- I think our 'Automotive Workshop on the Road to 5G' was one of the most colorful and inaugural works. We also had the opportunity to test smart cars at the beginner level.
- Both as an institution and personally, we prioritize domestic and national production. We are the encouragers, supporters, and followers of production especially in critical points of hardware and software. In this context, I think the clustering meeting of the electronic communications sector is an important step.”
BTK USOM ENSURED OUR COUNTRY EMERGED UNHARMED FROM THE CYBER ATTACK
Stating that they continue their work in line with the 2023 targets disciplined by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, these efforts will illuminate the coming years and open the way for this country, Sayan said, “As you know, the 'WannaCry' virus that swept the world in recent days, caused economic losses, and completely halted bureaucratic processes in some countries, spread worldwide like a disease. Turkey overcame this crisis without harm. The attention and disciplined work of our friends at USOM were decisive here. Great damages and losses were prevented. I think this is very important for our institution and USOM's work.” He concluded his speech by wishing everyone to reach the holiday in good health.
ZEREY: BEING HERE IS A SPECIAL HAPPINESS
Deputy Undersecretary Galip Zerey, on behalf of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication, expressed his pleasure for the invitation in his speech at the iftar program and said:
“Since I have known the construction of BTK's main building from the very beginning during my time as a Board Member and Second President, it is very important to me. Therefore, being here is a special happiness for me. I thank our BTK President very much for inviting us. I wish you all a blessed Ramadan and success. I wish us all to reach Ramadan Bayram together safely.”
Additionally, the children who attended the iftar invitation were not forgotten. The play area and cinema hall were also at the service of the children.
