A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) and the State of Kuwait's Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA).
Following the one-on-one and delegation-level meetings at Çankaya Mansion between Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by BTK President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan and Kuwaiti Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khalid Sulaiman AL JARALLAH.
The purpose of the memorandum was stated as "sharing the knowledge and experience of the two countries with each other within the scope of cooperation activities between Turkey and Kuwait; further developing friendly relations on the basis of equality and mutual benefit."
The areas of cooperation included in the agreement were listed as the regulation of telecommunications markets; regulation and practices of the use of information technologies; and other matters to be mutually agreed upon. Within these areas, the matters to be implemented in cooperation included the exchange of information and documents; exchange of experts; bilateral consultations; joint organization of technical workshops, seminars, study visits, and training programs; sharing of best practice examples in electronic communications regulations; expert visits and joint working groups in telecommunications services and technologies; and other forms of cooperation deemed appropriate by the parties.
Following the signing ceremony, BTK President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan stated on his official Twitter account: "The future of communication will be shaped by collaborations based on equality and mutual benefit. We have signed a memorandum of understanding as CITRA/Kuwait - BTK/Turkey."
In addition, during the ceremony, five more agreements were signed between the two countries: the Cooperation Protocol between the Turkish Republic Ministry of Interior Gendarmerie General Command and the Kuwait National Guard Command on the Training and Education of Personnel; the Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkish Republic Civil Aviation Authority and the State of Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority; the Cooperation Agreement in the Field of Youth between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the State of Kuwait; the Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkish Republic Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Support Administration Presidency and the National Fund for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises of the State of Kuwait; and the Protocol Amending the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation on Income and Wealth Taxes between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the State of Kuwait.
