BTK President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, who made statements on the occasion of the first anniversary of the 4.5G service, stated that 4.5G, which increases internet speed on mobile devices by 12 times, has received great interest from our citizens over the past year.
BTK President Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan made the following statements about the 4.5G technology, which entered service on April 1, 2016, and further facilitates communication with its speed, capacity, and efficiency:
NUMBER OF 4.5G USERS EXCEEDS 51.6 MILLION
“The number of 4.5G users exceeded 51.6 million by the end of the year. Considering that the total number of mobile subscribers is 75 million, this is seen as a significant achievement. The 4.5G service has also greatly affected mobile internet usage, its main component, reaching 51.7 million mobile broadband subscribers by the end of 2016, of which 32.8 million are 4.5G users. Accordingly, it has been determined that nearly two-thirds of mobile subscribers have started using the 4.5G service.”
OUR TARGET IS TO TRANSITION TO 5G WITH DOMESTIC RESOURCES
“Last year in April, the efforts to equip our country with a domestic and national infrastructure through the domestic content requirement included in the 4.5G tender by BTK continue at the same pace. The main goal here is to be among the pioneering countries in 5G and to transition to 5G with domestic resources. In line with our President's 2023 vision, who is the pioneer of this development and change in our country, an important step has been taken with 4.5G towards a Turkey that produces technology, not just consumes it, in areas such as domestic product contribution to our sector, encouraging R&D, supporting SMEs, and pioneering innovative technologies like 5G.”
